Queen Phoebee is a character in Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. She is the queen of the Royal Stingdom and assists Yooka and Laylee in restoring order to the Royal Stingdom and taking down Capital B with the Royal Beetalion.

After the player completes the Impossible Lair, Queen Phoebee rescues Yooka and Laylee from the self-destructing lair. She plans on gathering the chapter to each one of the Royal Stingdom's locations and rebuilding her kingdom. Queen Phoebee reveals at the end of the cutscene that Capital B is her brother, and she is a member of V.I.L.E. |
Name Origin[]
Originally, Queen Phoebee was named "Beetrice", but Queen Phoebee was later named after Gavin Price's daughter Phoebe.[1]
Phoebee is a combination of the female name Phoebe and bee.
Appearance[]
Queen Phoebee is a thin bee with a black body, face mask, and antennae. She has blue eyes and a yellow face, and wears and black and yellow striped dress with a red underneath and white gloves over human-like fingers. There are small studs up and down her dress. She has peach wings with a pink inside with eleven red crystals coming off of different points, connecting with red lines to the pink part. She has a blue ribbon hanging off of her waist with three gold hexagons coming off, one having a rainbow crystal. She wears brown boots.
Personality[]
Queen Phoebee is introduced as a kind hearted, albeit somewhat klutz queen who deeply cares about the Royal Stingdom's safety. She is supportive to Yooka and Laylee, often offering her assistance whenever they need it and granting them the Beetalion Guards. However, she can be a tad careless as she did not consider Capital B. would steal the Beetalion for himself despite she herself pointing out that Capital B had a Bee controlling device. Queen Phoebee seems to dislike her brother; all of her interactions with Capital B were rather hostile, and after Capital B's defeat, Phoebee mentioned that she would call him out to his superiors at V.I.L.E.

- She was designed by Steve Mayles.
- According to Mayles, her blue eyes were inspired by complaints from a fan that he only ever gave his female characters green eyes. Her green brooch was added to compensate for that.[2]
- Before Yooka and Laylee began to help Queen Phoebee, she had only been ruling the Royal Stingdom for a week.
- Originally during the design process, she was meant to be Capital B's wife but the idea was ultimately scrapped.
